About Cox & Company > Icing Tunnel Engineer

   Summary:

 

    Mechanical or aeronautical design engineer to assume an engineering role in a team environment. 

   

    Candidate will be working with personnel responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the 

    Cox Icing Wind Tunnel, and will participate in the design of aircraft ice protection systems and testing 

    them in the icing tunnel.

 

    Responsibilities include:

 

    - Tunnel test model prototyping: design, fabrication, and assembly with assistance from other engineers/technicians.

 

    - Testing of and contribution to development and improvement of Cox ice protection system.

 

    - Carry out periodic calibration of the tunnel including aerodynamic and cloud spray system according to SAE ARP-5905.

 

    - Pursue and implement enhanced tunnel simulation and test capabilities.

 

    - Documentation includes tunnel test plans and reports, operational procedures, calibration documents, and update of

      schematic diagrams of tunnel equipment

 

   Requirements:

 

    Masters degree and knowledge of basic wind tunnel theory (BS degree may be considered).

 

    Basic knowledge of computer data acquisition and controls, familiarity with programming languages such as 

    Labview and Visual Studio.Net (Basic & C) is highly desired. 

 

    CAD modeling software such as AutoCAD is required, and 3D modeling is highly desired.  

    Must be motivated with good communication and hands-on skills. Salary based on education and experience.
